Christmas is fastly approaching. We aren't people who have big crazy Christmas every year. The biggest one we had was KJ's first Christmas and that was only because he was my very first baby and I went a little hog wild getting him things and so did my mother and my mother inlaw. Ever since then we have scaled it down haha. Now we get the boys one real nice present such as a lego set or something like that and then I get them books and sketch pads and colored pencils ect... Ever since Rando was born I have given each of the boys a dollar or two and they get to pick out a gift to get for each other seperately at the dollar store. This year they are both excited because not only do they get to pick out a gift for each other but now they get to pick out a gift for Colty too. My mother started this tradition when my brother was born. She would give us each a few dollars to pick something out for each other and we've done that all our lives. Now that we are older we no longer buy each other a gift because we now buy each other's kids gifts instead. Of course, this year I will pick out something to give the boys from Colty but it makes me happy that the boys are looking forward to getting each other something. Kj has also made Rando an ABC's book that he has already wrapped and hidden in my closet for him. Rando has a toilet paper roll snake that he made at Storytime that he wants to give KJ for Christmas too but has already told him and showed him haha.
After we give gifts Christmas morning we usually then do our Jesus Cake tradition. The boys and I make a cake Christmas Eve night and then after we open our presents Christmas morning we sing Jesus happy birthday and eat his birthday cake for breakfast (which keeps my kids crazy all afternoon haha). While the boys each their cake I read them the story of Jesus' birth. I always want them to be aware that even though Santa is so widely celebrated on Christmas, Jesus is the real reason for the season. Both KJ and Rando have asked if I thought that Jesus would mind if we made him cinnamon rolls for his birthday this year instead of a cake. I thought that was cute and I'd actually eat that since I'm not a big cake fan. So cinnamon rolls it is! :)
Rando is awake and would like to snuggle on the couch so I better get off here. Just in case I don't get on here again before Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone!
